Using, since all words come from the Greek, the Complex Profile, you'll make two really complex profiles that intersect , with one acting as the wall and the other as a Solid Element Operator.

1:Establish the basic sloped wall section and place it.
Create a complimentary vertical wall type cutter section that will orbit into the sloped wall section, cutting the slope back to vertical.

Once again, like so many of these complex geometric operations, you don't have enough information available to do anything but an approximate answer.....

<T>Hi there,

Im having a few problems modelling a particular part of an existing building, and i wanted to know if anyone could suggest a way of achieving this.

The structure is almost triangular in shape, yet the side walls slant outwards as the structure becomes higher at about 105 degrees. I have attached a screenshot of what i have been able to do thus far, with little success. I have attempted to use a typical slanted wall at the desired degrees to achieve the side walls, but the front semi-circular face of the structure remains straight unlike the slanted walls. Therefore i dont know of a way to link these walls at their varying slants.

Iv also attached a few photos of the structure, and if anyone can suggest a way of achieving this i would be greatly appreciative!

Thanks alot,

....this is one of those times i realise how inexperienced an archicad user i am!

So essentially, im creating two complex profiles: 1 for the slanted wall, and 2 for the straight edge.

Im a little confused as to how you've joined the two together to achieve an almost seamless transition though?

Thanks for your help!

PS The building is called the exchange building and its based at Nottingham university in the UK.

You've just seen two of the newer, higher-level functions.

Search the Wiki for how to use them.

Complex Profile. Solid Element Operation.

This is just two complex profiles mooshed together with radii that complement the curves. I've shown you all i can schematically.

The trick is in defining the outer profile to cut the right depth.

You might break this up into several steps.

James:

You might be able to achieve this by creating a slanted wall in the Profile Manager, then creating the straight and curved walls with the wall tool using this profile. You may need the more complex solution illustrated by Dwight, depending on the exact result you desire.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
Hi James,

Maybe filleting two slanted walls together could help you.

Cheers.
That easy one is not the answer.

The problem was that the model needs to transit between a tilted wall to a vertical wall as it rounds the corner.
