Select the first slab (from which you want to subtract some part), then mouse-down on either an edge (mercedes) or a hotstpot (check mark), and the pet palette will appear.  You'll see the polygon subtract button in the right part of the top row.&lt;BR /&gt;
&lt;BR /&gt;
Pretty much the same pet palette options for all polygonal elements.&lt;BR /&gt;

      <description>&lt;DIV class="actalk-migrated-content"&gt;&lt;R&gt;I am using the educational version of archicad 11 for mac and I am trying to teach myself via the tutorial I downloaded. I am up to the step where you subtract one slab from another but for the life of me I cannot find this mythical "pet pallet" can someone please explain in detail as to where it can be found? &lt;BR /&gt;

In what way do you want to "subtract" one slab from another? Please expand or show a screen shot.&lt;BR /&gt;

Archicad version and OS is good, but put this info in a signature for future reference (profile link top of page)</description>
