My view is that one needs to look at the actual GDL and see how complicated it is, how it fits his purposes and which is easier and faster to do: modify it or do it from Scratch.
Generally I agree that many GS GDL objects are quite complicated, Doors/Window being to most complicated ones.

I checked the scripts of the Built-in Story Marker and it is not that complicated (For whom, of course, for many it already is). It does not call any macros. However, it has some parts that are written to provide the correct functionality.

The Marker Head portion is about 20% of its 2D Script and is not very complex, if one knows some GDL of course. So in this specific instance I would probably try to modify a copy of this deafult GDL object.

Other Section/Elevation Markers Design?

<T>Hi there!.
i am seriously disturbed that i have to use the same section/Elevation markers on each project.
What disturbs me the most is the tendency or should i call it "the standards" here in my country... That the most understood elevation marker is not (M1), but rather (M2)...
Anyone who can help On How I can Design my own Markers?, Or any link that i can get new markers?

Help is appreciated...</T>

These are called Story Marker as they show the Story Level Lines.
You would have to do GDL Scripting in order to create your own Story Marker.
Your best bet would be to create a copy of the "Built-in Story Marker" and script additional Marker Shapes for it.

Salum Al Riyamy:

One option is to use the Dimension Tool in Elevation, set to Elevation Dimension Type, there are 8 options for the marker symbol, some are close to your example. To use the Dimension Tool in elevation, you will dimension to the model (the dimensions do not appear automatically as with the Story Levels).

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
Laszlo,

I am not familiar with the Story Markers, but I find it is generally best to script custom markers from scratch. This applies to new users and old hands alike. The standard parts are generally quite complex (to accommodate all the variations) and most user's needs are very specific. Many custom symbols can be accomplished with just a few lines of code in less time than it takes to figure out the code in the standard parts.
