Object background colour

Hi,

I'm having an issue with the background colour fill for objects in 2D.
I've taken a screenshot of a WC to explain this but it seems to affect all my objects.

The WC fill type background pen is set to 19, which is white on my pen set.
However it is clearly showing up as grey on plan (see attached pic).

If I change this in parameters / 2D representation to say red then it changes to red. Why is pen 19 coming out as grey???

Secondly, is there a way to show the fill settings in the 'floor plan and section' drop down box from the ribbon along the top?

I really don't understand why you have to go searching into the objects properties to change some of the 2D appearance settings whereas others are conveniently located in the drop down menu.

I assume there is a way to do this, I just don't know how!

There's no explaining the complex evolution of GDL parameter interface.

BUT: your whiteasgrey is easily solved. "Automatic Pen Color Visibility" fixes the problem. You would't be finding this control by accident.

I worked out it was something to do with the work environment but would never have found that tick box!

No idea, how I managed to change that.....

The Floor Plan and Section panel can be accessed from the Info Box (the individual settings can be also be accessed). The Parameters panel cannot.

You should add to your Signature your ArchiCAD version (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.

I've never quite understood why the appearance settings are listed in different places. Surely it would make more sense to have all the 2D appearance settings and 'floor plan and section' settings listed in the same place?? After all, the colour of an objects fill appears in the floor plan so why on earth not locate the parameters here?

I'm guessing there is no way to choose which parameters are listed in the floor plan and section panel is there?

PS ArchiCAD 16 (just remembered I didn't change my signature).

The Floor Plan and Section controls are there for each and every library object. They are intended to work in addition to regular parameters, and as "global" settings for the whole element.
It is difficult to see the difference for simple objects, but "real parameters" are scripted for each object depending of its needs. They can also work for "parts" of the elements (you can have different pen for different lines/fills/background in the same object, as in doors/windows)
Objects created graphically (saving elements as object) often don't have such parameters.

Not saying that it HAS to be this way, but trying to explain why it was designed this way.

You also must keep-in-mind the constant addition of parameter options for GDL in an aging interface. There just isn't room for it all.
