For some reason ArchiCAD insists on setting the pasted/imported beams to "show on relevant stories only" thus CHANGING the settings from the source file. The quirk here is that the Revit source file that I HAVE to coordinate with has the typical mish mash of levels that the Revitiot operators don't realize should not ALL be stories. So even though the beams were ON level one they were not showing up there. The 3D problem was the story filter.
