I don't have a break command, if I want my coffee at 10 a.m. then I simply leave my office

There is a "breakpoint" command that controls
the GDL debugger. Is this what you are looking for?
Joeri, great comment, that cracked me up.

Peter, thanks for reply, not ready of gdl yet, just downloaded basic tutorials,
I'll get back to ya in a few yrs:-)

I guess it was Karl who used the term regarding cutting fills to save polygons
when creating fills to look like 2x plates in CP walls.
I guess he's on a break right now. Gosh only knows he deserves it.
I think what you are looking for is the
"split" command, Edit->reshape->split.
This is what Karl used to cut a rectangular
fill into four triangular pieces.
No, I think he is referring to cmd/ctrl+period(.).

Not sure if it's documented, and it doesn't seem to appear in the WE, but it is used to break a command or a process, such as rendering.
If Bier is indeed referring to this, it wouldn't be in the Archicad manuals. This is a system function on the Mac side.

Which also works for ArchiCAD in Windows. It is part of the Mac UI standards but it is implemented in the application code, so becomes a hidden feature for Windows users. It is not always reliable though since user interrupts are notoriously hard to trap.

But, it should be in the manuals, because ctrl-. is NOT a system command for Windows, yet causes a break in AC on Windows. <E>😉</E>

That is good to know.
Since switching to AC I have tried to spend as little time as possible on the PC (being a long long long time mac user). Still, I am support in my office for both platforms and try to learn as much as possible.

Since I've used the shortcut cmd/ctrl-B for the split command since 6.5 (I think it was standard then?), I think 'break' and forget sometimes that the official term is 'split'. I did say 'split' in the more recent illustrated post, so I am trainable. <E>😉</E>
Since I'm now back from my break.
Thank you one and all!

Often when I get stumped like this, I leave a forum post, & turn off the screen.
Then most times, I get on my bike and ride hard into the abyss of my favorite dirt trial(s).
Looks like it worked again this time thanks to all the contributors!

Just shows to go ya. The search function needs upgrading, maybe more than the program?
Except for winder stairs.
Thanks again
