<T>I am trying to fill the area between two splines. Does the fill tool not work with splines?? Every time I try, it makes a circle that is not even close to the spline outline.</T>

Set the magic wand for "best match" and click an edge.

Or is the area not closed?

In that case, close it with two lines.

I see... when you click inside the area it comes up with something wild that does not represent the actual shape, but when you click on the edge of the spline, everything works out nicely. Seem weird to you?
If you give a seeker program a hint, it can solve the equation.

I think that open splines are very hard to interpolate.....

While on the topic of splines, I'm drawing an existing stairwell that has a complex curve to it, which I have drawn with a spline. I want to offset that spline 3" to show the thickness of the handrail. Of course, it's only offsetting the one point I select. Is it possible to have all parts of the spline be 3" away, making not an identical spline but a larger spline?

Splines aren't real.

Magic Wand a polyline over it and work with that instead.

For really complex work, magic wand a wall over it and explode the wall - you get a second path properly offset.
