I use Better Touch Tool and I leave the swipe/scroll set to the default zoom behavior and use a two finger click as the center button/scroll wheel click to pan and (with the shift key) to orbit.

With BTT you can go crazy with multi-finger actions and gestures but I find these too unreliable.

<T>I'm new to Archicad and to the forum... I've read through many post, but I've yet to find the answer to my exact question. Within my mouse constraints, I've set up my Apple Magic Mouse to zoom when the option key is pressed (otherwise it pans). When I have an object selected and I want to zoom in and snap the object to a different location, pressing the option key makes a copy. Can I turn off the automatic option key copy function?
I've downloaded and installed MagicPrefs, but I cannot turn off this option. I've researched Better Touch Tool, but not sure if that will fix my problem either. What is the best practice for zoom and pan with a Magic Mouse?</T>

I don't think you can turn this off. It is "functionality hardwired" into ArchiCAD. As a general rule I would not assign any funtions to the CMD, OPT, CTRL, SHIFT, TAB, SPACE, BACKSPACE, ENTER, ESC keys as these have many uses in many situations in ArchiCAD.

Stuart, can you put a picture with your configuration in MagicPref? Please?
I'm having a hard time with so many option... <E>😞</E>
will be nice to have a good start.
Thank you.

Well, good to know. Mine is a little different, because that two finger middle button give me a weird message.
So I'm trying to get used to the shortcuts in AC, like P for pan and O for orbit <E>🙂</E>

Thank you for your answer.

http://archicadwiki.com/MagicMouse

Work Environment > Mouse Constraints & Method gives you two choices:

1. Wheel to zoom: Wheel + 'Alt' to pan
2. Wheel to pan: Wheel + 'Alt' to zoom

I've opted for 2 because I like to pan....

It works fine with my magic mouse (which actually has no wheel).

Cheers
