<R>Hi Guys,
I'm laying out floor plans and I want to control the layers that appear in them. There must be a way to do this.
I'm having a problem displaying an imported object in the layout, I've put it on a newly created layer and want to control if it displays or not.

Thanks in advance, presentation Friday
In the layer settings box cmd+L you need to turn on the layer you made in the layer combinations.

On the right side highlight this new layer.
On the left side go through all your layer combinations one at a time set this layer's visibility and intersection priority.

Dan,
If you are talking about controlling layers of drawings in a layout book then you can't control them directly with the layer dialogue.

The view you save for the plan must be saved with a particular layer combination.
Create multiple views for different layer combinations - i.e floor plan, electrical plan, site plan, etc.
Then add each of these views to you layout as needed.

A drawing can be placed in a particular layer on a layout and that layer can be turned on or off in the layout book but the layers have no effect on the content of a drawing.
