You cannot be serious with this question? What school/program are you in?

I'm remodeling an existing space that was formerly a school.. The building is a two story building. I need to know the amount of space I need to separate the two floors that are on top of each other.

What is the structural system? Where are the lights and mechanical systems hidden? What are the spans? The floor loads?

If you specify 1', that is equal to the nominal distance of a 2x10 wood frame floor with topping and a ceiling below.

It could be an 8" thick concrete slab.

Or whatever.

Your question is like asking "how long is a piece of string?"

At your level of appreciation, leaving 1' is close enough.
