    <description>You could also customize what the trace reference shows, in it's settings dialog, turn off everything non-essential.</description>

      <description>Select  your trace reference from the Navigator's Project map, not the view or layout map. This way Archicad doesn't have to deal with different layer combos simultaneously, which speeds up things a bit.</description>

      <description>I also found it to be a lot slower in AC 11 than AC 12 - not that it helps your problem but if/when you upgrade you could see a boost in performance.</description>
