<T>is there such a thing as an architectural type looking font in Archicad? I know in Autocad, we could customize an architectural font by using an SHX file such as "Archstyl.SHX" which resembled nicely a hand-drawn type chisel point font.

Does this even exist in Archicad??

if so, how do you go about "altering" or creating a new font which contains these characteristics???</T>

Archicad uses system fonts. Any font that's installed in the system (Windows or Mac) will work in Archicad.

As Thomas said, AC uses installed TrueType fonts on your computer. There are some "hand" style TTFs out there (some for sale and some free). Just be aware of some of the documented .PDF bugs using custom fonts in AC.

David wrote:
...Just be aware of some of the documented .PDF bugs using custom fonts in AC.

David, I must have missed that. Would you care to enlighten me? (I only remember having heard of AC13 not working with some fonts in Snow Leopard /MacOSX10.6/ but that's a completely different issue)

Also, I'd like to add that at least on the Mac, AC accepts all of the vast collection of PostScript type 1 fonts that the OSXsystem can handle. You can find any style you'd want on the internet.

Edited:
And, if you're on Windows, Autocad installs all of its .shx fonts in TrueType (.tff) versions as well, so any Windows program can use them. If you don't have Autocad, you can install Autodesk's free TrueView DWG viewer, it will also install those fonts in the system, available for Archicad as well.

Also, if you have a PC with those fonts installed, you can transfer the .ttf files to your Mac, they will work in OSX too.

Hi rob2218

I recenttly went on an internet hunt looking for more interesting fonts to use in my plans

I found a few that are pretty good including Archstyl TFF which looks like the autocad text font. I also have a couple of hand writing style ones that like nice if you are interested.
