THE REFERENCE DOT THAT SHOWS UP (WHICH IS MOST USEFUL BY THE WAY) WHEN MOVING OR REFERENCING GEOMETRY OF AN OBJECT, CONTINUALLY MOVES AND DISAPPEARS WHENEVER i TRY AND TOUCH IT......HOW CAN YOU "LOCK" THAT DOT IN PLACE JUST LONG ENOUGH FOR A USER TO TOUCH IT AND SELECT THE OBJECT AS THE REFERENCING GEOMETRY???

You have to run your cursor along the object it is referencing. If your cursor strays too far, it disappears.

Hi Rob

What works for me is to hit "Q" on the keyboard. That's the shortcut that forces the highlighted pale orange dot into a guideline.

See if that works

"Q" clears my guidelines (default, I think). Check your shortcuts, Rob, and assign as necessary.

Shortcuts can vary between Mac and Windows. If your signature had relevant info in it you might get better answers

But as I said, if you run your cursor along the element, the "blob" will stay till you get to it.

Wow!!...whenever now I try to reference a grid line...the entire model is CRASHING like a raped ape!!!.....has crashed 5 times in the last hour and happens ONLY when I try to reference a grid line object as the referencing element to rotate my text.....humm...

Have you installed the latest (3487) hotfix? I believe this fixed some issues with guidelines. If you added this information to your signature......

Thanks for the "hotfix" tip....we have not installed the latest HOTfix.
hopefully that will resolve the "crashing" report this is causing.

I've sent probably 12 BUG REPORTS to GS in the last 4 hours today...hubboy.

WOW......this is really ridiculous...I'm at the mercy of the dude who installs the HOTFIXES on ALL the machines, meanwhile...everytime I try to reference something..........KABOOOMM.....MAJOR CRASH..BUG REPORT...SEND TO GS.....sheesh....what a nightmare....
