Are you working in 10 or 9. In 10 I have had some re-build problems with section elevation windows. The two methods I have found to assure a section elevation rebuild is to move the section elevation slightly or go to a layout where the drawing has been placed and then return to the same view. It is strange where certain items don't show up in the view. I have had slabs and roofs do this, but can't remember if I have had problems with the mesh. At least final drawing output via the layouts seems to be OK, but it is a little scary to think that some elements will randomly not show up...

<T>Im having a strange problem with the mesh I am using... When I go to my site plan story, the mesh is clearly there on a specified layer. When I go to my elevation, with that specified layer turned on, my mesh fails to show up. Any ideas what might be wrong?</T>

I assume the mesh is solid (3rd construction method), and you're sure of the elevation.

Check for geometric inconsistencies such as contours crossing. Is the mesh a target of any solid element operations? Try canceling the ops, and check the operator elements for inconsistencies too. Lots of ops on a mesh can eventually lead to trouble. I never cut the mesh with the actual foundation walls, I place a slab(s) for the sole purpose of cutting the grade. It's an extra step, but more reliable.

Meshes can be very glitchy, especially as they become complex, and sometimes they fail for no apparent reason. If you can't find the offending condition, gradually simplify the mesh by ( ) deleting contours one at a time, and checking the section. Assuming it fixes itself, try to restore what you need.

The mesh tool is crying out for an update in features and reliability.

Mike wrote:
In 10 I have had some re-build problems with section elevation windows.

Aha, I've had that too. Stuff vanishes after rebuild. It always comes back, after more editing and another rebuild . I haven't seen the output affected either.

...I just checked and actually I reported that one. In my report it was a mesh that vanished, coincidentally. Along with a tree object. Totally random.

So that could be it, but meshes are still glitchy.

Thanks for your input guys... I ended up rebuilding my contours (luckily it wasn't too complicated a mesh) and everything worked out. These meshes are glitchy I guess.
