In AC 17, the default Surface comes from the Building Material, but it can be overridden by pressing the button to the right of the Surface, in the Help files see: Configuration > Attributes > Surfaces > Element-Level Surface Override.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.

<T>hello archiCad users!

We are from the netherlands we are new to ArchiCAD. We are experiencing some difficulties using ArchiCAD!
We are supposed to rebuild our school in ArchiCAD. At first everything went quite well, we were able to put up some walls to create the first part of the school.
However now we would like to edit the textures of the walls so that you can see actual bricks. Right now if you use the 'Brick' texture, it's still a smooth wall.

I hope you guys can help us,

Thx in advance,

If you are viewing your 3D model with the Internal Engine then you will only see coloured surfaces.
If you are using the OpenGL engine you will see the textures (if you have the surface materials set up correctly with the textures).
You can choose the viewing engine in the 3D Window Settings.
You have to switch to Internal Engine, then back to OpenGL in order to make the texture appear sometimes. The OpenGL engine doesn't always update. You might have go trough this when you change the photo rendering background as well ( if you are using it as your OpenGL background ), since the sky turns totally chaotic when you do so.
