Problems/Irritations with AC14

<R>Is anyone else having any problems with AC14?

Here is a list of what I have encountered thus far:

1: I cannot scroll down in a drop down box. I either have to grab the blue slider to the right or click on the up/down arrows to move the list up and down. I am still able to zoom in and out in the drawing without any problems, and I can scroll up and down in the Navigator,Favorites, and Info Box. This problem only occurs in the drop down boxes. Drop down boxes in other programs still work. I use a Logitech MX Revolution mouse that has a "free wheeling" scroll wheel, and it is very speedy when scrolling. I have tried another mouse that is a "click per scroll" type, and it does the same.

Also in drop down boxes, I can click on my desired choice and nothing happens, or I will get a selection one up or down. Sometimes I have to click three or four times to get it to work. Same goes with OK/Cancel Buttons (however this does seem to only happen after I have attempted to scroll, which after four years of using ArchiCAD is pretty much all the time).

2: If I am editing a large text block, every time I hit the space bar, the text block will jump from one screen to the other (I use two). I am not a touch typist so I have to watch the text as I type it. This is very irritating to me.

3: What in the world is with the new little Icon that attaches to my cursor now when I use Relative Construction Methods? I have a mind that gets very distracted by extra things, and I find this feature annoying as all get out. Can it be turned off?

4: I never use Snap Grid, and it turns itself on periodically. I have removed the Icon from my Standard Tool Bar, as I thought at first I was clicking it accidentally when trying to select Show/Hide Tracker (which for some odd reason periodically shuts itself in any version of Archicad), but it still happens.

These are what I have encountered so far. They may seem like little things, but they are huge time wasters. I will post this message in the Other Problems forum, not for redundancy, but it might be seen by others that may miss it here.

Sorry for the wall of text, but I would love to have these problems addressed and fixed.

Thanks.</R>

Jeff,

regarding item 4, you may want to remove the keyboard shortcut, that turns snap on. The default shortcut is the 'S' key and i found that i would easily turn it on inadvertently in the process of working.

One more...

When selecting Layouts in the Navigator window, the PROPERTIES POPS open, so trying to double click on a layout is difficult... You have to click once, let the properties pop open then click twice to open up layout.

I can't say for a Mac but on PC just watch the length of the black line as you move it arround.
If it the length of the folders in the list then it will be between them.
If shorter (the length of the views in the folder) then it will be in the folder.

Another trick is to contract all the folders so you don't see their contents.
Then so long as you drag between the folders (you will see the black line) then that is where you will go.
While we're at the spit, bitch and chew bench...

When editing a polygon (for example) the pet palette does not actual invoke the proper selection..

So.. If I drag along the pet palette and choose EDGE EXTEND... the button on the pet palette displays correctly but the tool is still in MOVE mode...

It's a bitch when your trying to speed draft and MOVE the whole polygon instead of adjusting an edge. And when zoomed in, it might not be obvious that you're doing it..

To be fair, it's done this since at least 12..

I'll grant you that inserting views between folders is a little tricky - dare I say delicate - but it is certainly possible on a Mac. Given this and the strange pet pallette behavior I wonder if there isn't some other explanation to these strange behaviors you're experiencing. I recently upgraded to a new machine and AC14 has been working reliably. Perhaps a clean slate might help.

Duane:

It can be tricky, I find it helps to pull the folder to the left in the Navigator while moving the folder up/down to keep it between rather than in the other folders. This will also prevent the other folders from opening.
Ok... I am still having problems with the folders, but it's not a huge problem..

My new number 1 is dealing with LIBRARY PARTs via TW2..

I am a guy who likes to create MANY objects and with the BIM LIBRARY stuff... it's excrutiating waiting and waiting and waiting for Library Parts to open, then wait some more to save them...

God forbid if want to drag a folder of other parts into my BIM Library from somewhere else!.. Got to RELOAD that library (really, I've tried all those buttons... REFRESH, etc.).. Then after the 5min Reload I have to either quit and reopen AC or some other movement with Library Manager to fake the old RELOAD button.

I am willing to accept that, because I came late the AC 14 party (and skipped AC13) I could very easily be missing something...
