<T>I have to make beams with variable section as you can see in attached image.

How can I do? I tried with objects: inclined beams 15, precast concreate beams but nothing...all that I was able to obtain is a tapered beam but in the other direction!!!!

Thank you
Erica,

Does TrussMaker do tapered struts? I haven't used it much and it's been a while. I thought it just put uniform parts on centerlines.

Nicola,

Three other methods:

1. Use roofs as solid operators to make the tapers.

2. Draw the beams as slabs in plan and save as library parts.

3. Make a beam profile of the joist in elevation so that the axis is placed perpendicular to the span (i.e. a <S></S>very<E></E> short, <S></S>very<E></E> wide beam).

The trussmaker addon allows you to make any shape; some use it to make railings...no fun using a tool just for what its name implies

I'm not sure if this matches what you're after, but OBJECTiVE includes both tapered and cambered beam types (refer to the attached image). The extent of the camber is fully parametric on the top and bottom (in either direction) as is the extent of the taper.

Matthew was right, trussmaker ( Design>design extras> Trussmaker) would just rim the outline shape of the truss. It was faster to make a library part. If you know even rudimentary scripting you can turn it into a parametric object.

I suggest looking at Ralph's Objective; It's a great product with easily created and graphically edited objects. Ralph really stands behind his product and provides excellent support.

Attached is a screen shot with the slab drawn in floor plan which I saved as a library part and the trussmaker version which didn't produce the desired results

I create my slab in floor plan, but now how can i rotate it?And how can i save it as a library part?

I'm sorry but GDL object and library are a new world for me....
Follow the instructions:
1. Select the slab, open 3D Perspective window
2. In Parallel Projection Settings > Perspective Settings > Select projection Type > SIDE VIEW > Azimuth 90° > OK
3. Now you see the slab from the top as a BEAM
4. Select it and go to File > Libraries and Bobjects > Save 3D Model as... > Save Library Part:
Name.....type a name for the object
Type......Object
Options...Non-editable binary 3D data
Save to..Embedded Library
5. Save
6. Use the tool Object and insert your beam on the plan

Ok, now everything is quite clear!! Thank you Andro.

oh, last question...

now if i want to change the fill (not only section fill) how can I do it? I'd like to see it (timber fill) in elevations or parallel section...
can I use my new object also in teamwork library or not?

Thanks....

Before following Andro55's instructions, set the material and fill of the slab to the desired attributes. You can save the slab as a library part with the same name in the same location, overwriting and replacing the previous object.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
