<T>Hi.

I have 2 roofs. 1 exterior and 1 interior.

When I place the round skilight with the first 1 roof it places itself ok.

But because I have 2 roof close to each other, the next roof is not correctly with the skilight. (no hole with this one.)

How do I cut a hole in my second roof for the round skilight.</T>

FROM ARCHICAD HELP:

Virtual Building > Construction Elements > Roofs > Create a Hole in a Roof

1.
Select a Roof plane

2.
With the Roof tool active, draw a new contour within its boundaries. The new contour will be interpreted as a hole in the Roof.

Note: If you create a hole whose outline intersects the host Roof’s contour or the outline of other holes in the same polygon, ArchiCAD will display a warning message, but the outline of the hole will still be created.

See also Selecting Roof Hole.

Also: to cut a circular hole, draw the circle with a circle tool, then use the magic wand with the roof plane selected to cut the hole.

Just FYI, this method can be applied to slabs and fills as well.

You could also use Solid Element Operations as well.

If the skylight already intersects your 2nd roof then the skylight could be the operator and the roof the target.

If that doesn't work or they dont intersect create a slab the shape of the skylight that passes through the roof and SEO that (put the slab on a hidden layer so it never shows).
Move the slab and the hole moves.
