topic A15 - Fixed Center Window Sash Missing in Modeling

<T>Using a Basic Window W3 15, and when setting the two outboard windows to side hung and the center unit to fixed, the center sash is not created.

Rather the program simply displays this window as if the glass is floating in a sense in the frame.

Fixed windows can also have sashes in the real world.

If I switch this center fixed window to an operable type, the sash is created.

Two questions:

How can I create a fixed window in a multi-sash unit that has a sash?

OR

How can I override the opening lines on a single sash in a multi-sash unit?

oneway</T>

Please click the text link for "Profile" at the top of this page, below the blue bar and update your signature to include your AC version, etc.

I'm a little confused, because your profile says you're in California, but the US library for AC 15 does not have a "Basic Window W3 15" in it that I can find. Are you perhaps using a 3rd party product such as Door/Window Builder?

There is no standard window in the US lib that has a fixed center with casements to either side. But, you can create such a window but ganging together three windows. See the ganging options in the General panel of parameters as shown in the attached. In the screenshot, I've checked both side checkboxes as would be done for the fixed center window.

Not sure if what I show is what you want (hinge sides) but you can see that the ganging of the two casements and center fixed looks OK. I just used default params for trim/frame size - not what I would really use.

Cheers,
Karl

NB to readers: the ganging feature appears to be fixed in 15: there is no extra line where the two windows join.

Here's the 2D for the window shown in the last post. Note how ganging results in jams/returns only where you do NOT check the gang checkboxes. Again, the ridiculously small casing/trim is just the default library settings.
Last but not least - ganging windows like this affects schedules, since the illustration below will schedule as three separate windows. If these are in fact ganged on-site, that's correct. If they are mulled at the factory for a single large opening, then you have to fake the schedule. There are several old threads that discuss this.
