topic Re: Trackpad with Ac? in Modeling

I used to think that sore wrist syndrome (carpal tunnel) would never happen to me because really, how can a little mousing cause any real harm? Not like you are banging drywall all day long.

Then one day a few years ago, my wrist began to ache and worse yet, my hand started to tingle and feel numb. Not good to be sure! My solution at the time was to buy a wrist and forearm support that clamps to my desktop-looks sort of like an elongated plastic table tennis paddle with a mouse pad at one end. Cranked up the mouse speed to limit wrist movement and I have been fine ever since.

With all of the new gesture based commands available, I will probably look into using a track pad on my iMac, but for die hard mouse users a well designed armrest can be a life saver.

although i have been using a trackpad in AC14 every now in a while, i am not yet convinced that it really is that ideal... maybe i need some more time to really fully get the hang of it though.

however, outside of ArchiCAD i hardly ever use my mouse anymore - especially with the new gestures in 10.7 / LION the trackpad really rocks.

given that the magic mouse is really not that good either, i will definitely order my next desktop mac with a trackpad only and if at all get a more ergonomic mouse from somewhere else.

Looking for feedback on using Apples Trackpad, so thought I bump this back up to the top.

Any likes or dislikes?

thanks

I use a track pad to alleviate wrist problems I was having.
Use it with my mouse. So often my mouse is just pointing and the track pad is clicking.
It would be better if it had more functionality, but i'm happy to say more sore wrist has gone.

i have not been able to get it setup to function like my magic mouse (mm), but have not spent much time with magic trackpad (mt) and archicad.
update: after messing around with magic prefs i now have similar actions to my mm while checking out model in 3d!
i set 2 finger click on magicprefs trackpad to middle click, just like on mm that gave me pretty similar actions.
no 1 finger settings available on mt like mm which zooms
2 finger touch zooms mt sim to 1 finger click and hold on mm
2 finger click and hold for pan = same action mm
2 finger click and hold + shift for orbit = mm action
i have not really tried drawing w/ mt much yet.

i did find an interesting add on or mt that is coming out soon, posted on this thread:
guess we will see what is up in future driver releases.
