Here is my tuppence worth on the new Archicad 16.

I think it looks like one of the better upgrades, I have found the last 3 upgrades to have centred on larger practices and integration with other CAD packages, - as I sole practitioner doing small projects, I have felt a bit left out.

But the changes in 16 look to be good for all across the board.

I like the u value calculation within the materials and this will be great.
With regards to the built in ecodesigner, I have always felt that until this can be used to perform mandatory energy calculations ( in UK this is SAP2009) then this software is not quite there yet. Using it to show that using solar panels is going to be more green than burning fossil fuel is IMHO a no brainer.
it needs to be able to perform mandatory energy calcs for local authority compliance. Still its a step in the right direction, and Im sure glad I didn't buy Ecodesigner as a bolt on!

The BIM object link will be handy although there is stiff opposition form Artlantis and NBS / objects online and a whole host of others, still its cool that its integrated.

Looks very good to me. AC16 squarely addresses core needs for us: Morphing tool, better 3D interaction, etc., especially when combined with the shell tool.

...and the inclusion of what-was EcoDesigner is a most welcome surprise.

I like The Morph'up* tool ( this is a tool that seems so natural to the way Archicad Handle modifications ) ...

One question though :
If I've understood correctly, the Morph tool is mainly for object creation ( for massing eventually) but can we affect a thikness or transform the geometry created by the morph tool to bim elements ( shell, wall, slabs, curtain walls ...etc) ?

What is needed on the modeling side now are Nurbs and an appropriate parametric panneling tool.

*In reference to Sketchup <E>😉</E>

Any construction element type can be converted into a Morph element.
Or if it is a more complex geometry consisting of several pieces (like Windows/Doors, Library Parts) you can Explode it into Morph elements. The whole thing is very flexible.
It is not possible to convert a Morph element to other element types like Walls, Slabs etc. Any Morph element can be saved as a Library Part though.
For listing purposes a Morph element can be classified as other element types.

I was interested in the required OS for mac. Even AC15 shows only OS 10.6. What about 10.7 or the soon to be 10.8?
