Please note that Laura's original reply was back in July 2011 - before version 17 so the problem with Building Material strengths would not have been relevant.
SEO was the solution to the problem back then - SEO works a little differently now in version 17 or 18.

<T>I have try to trim column and wall from slab in 3D but not successful.

Try the SEO, not handy too.

Cant use the roof trim.

Try changing the slab to roof, not allowed.

Is there something else that I miss out? Please point out.</T>

One wall, 2 slabs at different heights...
SEO...subtract with downward extrusion (wall target, slabs operators)...does not work
Trim elements to Slab...does not work...cut it all at the one height
Tried a few other things for last 5 hours...
So you have to stuff around and devise some method to solve such a simple thing with your own imagination or what?
Try drawing 2 walls...same wall...same plane...same material...get a line
Seriously...I can model better with $120 software...this is not a finished and viable product...you are just paying for people to do more research.
Maybe Archicad 1800 will work...doubt it though

The forum is not an alternative to the Reference Manual and proper training. I suggest you include the version/platform you are using in your signature, form an articulate question, and add a screenshot or two.

brucestar,
You don't say what version of Archicad you are using.
This info (as well as your operating system) can affect the answer you need.
Best to add it to your Profile signature to save writing it in every post.

If you are using 17 or 18 the Building materials all have various strength values.
If you have "Legacy" mode turned of then you will be using these Building material strengths and Archicad will automatically determine which element will cut away the other element.

So if for example you have a simple slab and a wall penetrating that slab then ...

If the slab is stronger than the wall then it will cut the wall where they intersect.
But because the slab is still solid it can be used with Solid Element Operations to subtract the wall with upwards or downwards extrusion.

If the slab is weaker than the wall then the wall will cut the slab where they intersect - effectively creating a hole in the slab where the wall passes through.
Now because the slab is not solid(it has a hole the same size as the wall) it can not be used in an SEO because there is not slab to cut the wall away.

Hopefully the attached image will help to explain.
You can choose a different Building Material for your walls and slabs so the slab is stronger than the walls or you can turn the "Legacy" mode on and then the SEO will work as you expect (but you will lose all of the automatic trimming of elements in section/3D).
With Legacy mode off a lot of attention needs to be paid to the strengths of each building material.

If you can post an image of what you are trying to trim (even if just an example and not a real situation) then we may be able to come up with some more solutions.
