'explore' / walk through button grayed out

recently I have found the 'explore' button to enable me to walk through a design has been greyed out and unavailable.
I am a new user and still finding my way around the interface but can not find any cause for this to have suddenly stopped working. Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this.

My guess is you're in Axonometric mode, rather than perspective.

Yes you are right, but when I change to perspective, the design 'disapears' I have tried the zooming out to view all button but can not see the design. I've tried to orbit function but can not 'find' the project! All all else is fine when in Axonometry mode. Any other ideas? Thanks

The gist of it use the Shift-click and Alt-click to position your camera and target in the 3D Projection Settings plan view
