Start a new project, selecting the "use template" option in the first window, then merge to this one the project you are working on : File>File managing>Merge (or something similar..., I'm on ITA version)

<T>I have just started using Archicad... And I see that I have old version. Mine is 09. But I hope some of you out there still can help me out.

Whenever I try to put out a object like lightning I get this message up:
"the former layer of this tool has been cleared. Please choose another layer"
It really upsets me... I don't know why this shows up. It doesn't show up when i'm setting out wallsetting f. ex.
And I have unlocked all the layers...
Well. i would be very happy to get some help. Thanks!</T>

I admit I would have looked even if the title was "I do not need any help"...

Check to see that an existing layer has been selected for the object before placing the object. I would guess that the layer reads "[missing]" because the default layer has been deleted.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
If you create a new project using the New & Reset command (see Help file) or start a new project from an ArchiCAD Template (see Help file) then all those layer assignments will be correct and you will not receive these messages.
