Now you clarify, a mate of mine asked me a similar question recently (I gave him the same answer!). When I zoom on a layout it takes a while for the image to generate, but only does it once. Don't know what the problem might be, sorry.

<R>There has to be a better way ...... I'm working on elevations that have mondo fills and linework. Everytime that I try to adjust the view window in Plotmaker it has to go through it's 2 refresh cycle which takes forever to get anything done. Is there a way to work in v10 Plotmaker that doesn't require the drawings to refresh everytime you make a move????
Select the drawing in the Layout, Ctrl+T (settings), change update type to Manual. This means you will have to select and Update, or update thru the Drawing Manager in Navigator.

Also, on Autorebuild sections / elevations, it's a good idea to disable the "Update ... continuously" checkbox in Options> Preferences> Miscellaneous.
Thanks for the response Stuart....I'm actually talking about the 'screen refresh' that takes place after moving a window in plotmaker or zooming in/out. Everytime I zoom for instance, the object refreshes, and then has to refresh again. Not a problem with simple plans, but on complex elevations it can be a killer. Plotmaker 9 had an option to show only the frame of the drawing so that it didn't have to do this refresh.
