Thank you!! That was it. The walls were all proposed but existing was still the default when I selected the zone tool. It worked when I created new, temp walls because they were also being created with existing as default. And when I got the weird error followed by zones incorporating the area of a couple walls, that was because those walls were (incorrectly) set to existing.

Now the zone stamp isn;t showing up, but I'm sure that will be solvable....

Thanks again, this made me nuts last night

UPDATE: visibility was just set to off by the model view I was using, all is good now

Gentleman,

You need to use the "Zone Stamp 1 17" and "Zone Stamp 2 17" objects. These are available in the International library
and at <S></S>http://www.bimcomponents.com<E></E>. I will have to check why these were not included with the default USA library,
but for now you can download them here:
Zone_Stamp_1 17
Zone_Stamp_2 17

Sorry about the confusion.

If the drag to ArchiCAD function is not working you should make sure the GDL Web Control/Plug-in is up to date. If that does not correct the issue then you may need to try another web browser or check to see if another application, such as anti-virus, might be impeding the process.

In the meantime I am happy to send the objects to users in North America. Just send an email to our North American Technical Support team and we can send you a file transfer.
I am wondering if this has anything to do to the fact that you cannot technically "place" a Zone Stamp in ArchiCAD.
You can only place Zones that will display a Zone Stamp when placed.

I tried this and I could not drag it to ArchiCAD, it didn't work for me either. However, I could drag any normal object.

Anyway, I have forwarded this issue to GS.

This is the first time I have tried to use the portal from a browser. I can't get any object to drag and drop.
I am using Chrome or IE and both act the same except in Chrome I can rotate the object view.
In either browser, I don't see the menu on the left side like in the video.

I have turned off the add blocker but still no go.

Why can't we simply have the option to download the object to hard drive?

Fricka Frack...

I just ported a 16 project to 17... ALL MY ZONES now read GROSS AREA and not the zone name previously input. All the names are there in the dialog box, but the stamp will ONLY display GROSS AREA as the zone name...

This is NOT the CATEGORY and switching the USE CATEGORY as NAME has no effect....

Someone tell me how I can get my Room Names back!..

I presume this is NOT because Zone Identifier 2 is not available, because is shows up fine (not a DOT) and appears in the menu list for the zone setup...
It looks like the script for the AC17 version is bollocks. Perhaps you can open the original file in 16, open the zone stamp and save as "Zone Stamp VF" or something and embed it. This should change the GUID and prevent the substitution when you open in 17.

I've got a new v17 file in which the zone tool doesn't appear to work at all. I select the tool, it says "click into an Area...etc" down in the lower left, but when I click, nothing happens at all. The walls area set as zone boundaries.

A few times I clicked, it gave me dialog box saying that no area could be found but it could try if I said yes, it would create a zone comprised of he inner area of a few nearby walls - not enclosed by the walls, but the walls themselves.

EDIT - I just tried creating quick wall rectangles and the zone tool seems to work fine - something must be messed up with the walls of my plan, but I can;t think what it could be.

Anyone have a similiar trouble or ideas to fix it?
Turn on your wall reference lines (on screen display option) and see how they all trim.
They will all need to connect to each other to create an enclosed space for the zone to place automatically.

Worse case scenario if you can't get the wall to trim together properly then set the zone to manual draw (in 17 you can now do a rectangle) and draw the zone yourself.
They will all need to connect to each other to create an enclosed space for the zone to place automatically.

Worse case scenario if you can't get the wall to trim together properly then set the zone to manual draw (in 17 you can now do a rectangle) and draw the zone yourself.
reference lines all appear to line up properly - doesn't make any sense!

hate to do it manually, though, maybe there's something simple I'm missing

It could be the smallest of gaps.
The only way to know for sure is to force all the walls to trim with each other again.

Often I will drag a copy of the walls to the side so I can play with them and then it doesn't matter if I destroy them.
If you drag a copy and can place a zone in them then I wonder if there are other walls (other layers or duplicates) that are interfering.
Checked all the connections by trimming, then copied the walls enclosing one room to the side and checked the intersections again - no luck. Then i drew a quick room again and sure enough the zone works there - even though one of the reference lines didn't properly intersect! This is so weird - thanks for the continuing thoughts and help!
