Perhaps even easier, is to use a wall niche and insert
the window into the niche.

<T>I'm working on an old Georgian building and want to place a traditional sash window which has an historic reveal. However the reveal extends downwards from the cill to the floor, and although I can switch off the internal wall lines in 2D, I can't lose that section of wall below the cill in 3D. Can anyone help with the settings I need or do I have to carry out a solid element operation to remove the unwanted piece of wall?</T>

Can't you put your window in a thin wall that is as wide
and high as the outside trim width and height then set
this thin wall into a thicker wall with an empty opening
the dimension of the thin wall. Please see attached image
of the interior side of the wall and window.
Easier still:

Use a standard (INT) library window like <S></S>W Double Hung 12<E></E> and toggle on the <S></S>Parapet Wall Inset<E></E> parameter.

This will do exactly what you are looking for and allow you to control it using the library part.
