Can you clarify? All of the 'MSA' parts were renamed 'DET' in the SE9 library ... and still exist in the 11 library. Is there a problem with using those, or is it that you have an old project from 9 that you're trying to use in 11?

By the way - Virtual Trace in 11 offers a much-improved way of using the MSA/DET 'templates'. Instead of placing the templates on special hidden layers, simply place the template in an unlinked Detail or Worksheet and use it as the trace reference....

Cheers,
Thanks Karl for answering,

I have hundreds of details with MSA lib parts dating back from older versions. I am not able to load the old MSA library in 11 to make these details read.

I then have old projects that I try using as base for new projects, TI tape of work.

Hi Albert,

If you save the old project(s) with details as PLA and open that in 11, extracting the PLA lib and then weeding it to just the MSA stuff so that you can load it alongside 11's lib ... do you get lib loading errors? I assume that must be the issue?

Cheers,
I did just that loaded the unpacked MSA in 11. This does not load the library items.

We have here a major problem.

When I purchased AC on 1989 my only question was "will these library items work for the future". I was assured that they will work as long as GS or AC exists. Well this is not the case and this is the Achilles’ heel.

I do not have a solution

FWIW, I don't have any trouble in 11 loading the extracted MSA folder from the old 9 pla. Though I don't have old details to test.

My problem with old projects is finding the parts. Once found, I don't think I've ever observed a part that permanently failed to load, or failed to work once loaded. The MSAs are just 2D symbols, nothing exotic. Except: The steel shapes need a text file that used to go in the AC folder but now I think it can be in a loaded library.

Maybe you could zip and upload an old detail and we could see if the problem is reproducible.

You confirms my problem that the steel does not work. The details I needed when I posted the coment are loaded with steel elements.
In my opinion GS should not be allowed to play this game, it has to be a commitment: ALL THE OLD LIBRARIES PROPAGATED WITH THE PROGRAM BY GS MUST WORK WITH NEW VERSIONS.

The point is that is a lot of wasted time and this goes on with many other things like the pdf;s that aper only partially when dredged in a layout.

Although I have not been using AC as long as you, I feel your pain. I too have been trying to get the old details - some done with AC6 to be useable. My solution is pretty basic: Open the old details and replace with the newest versions. As my plans do not have hundreds of the old steel shapes, it is'nt that big a deal to update the files. I had some difficulties just updating a building from 9 to 11.

At least after spending a little time, the files look OK and the parts and details all work.
