The "Look To" tool will put the object in the center of the screen and make it the center of rotation.

<T>Is there a way (besides selecting an object) to temporarily set the center of rotation to a particular part of a project so it doesn't keep reverting back to the main center of rotation? I know we can select an object but as soon as an object is de-selected it jumps back to the main center of rotation and you have to select an object again to orbit around that area you are working on again.</T>

Try the "Look To" command.

Thanks
The look to tool is good to know.
I found a better solution though.
When using the orbit tool it seems as though if the cross hair in the middle of the screen is resting over an object that object automatically becomes the center of orbit. Pretty cool. I've been trying to figure this out for years.
