Plan and 3D view renerates every few seconds

I have a problem in plan view and in the 3d window - when I hover over an element such as a wall or window, the plan or view seems to regenerate every few seconds. It only happens on a couple of relatively small residential projects - other much larger projects are all functioning normally. It is an issue when trying to select elements - instead of selecting them it just regenerates the view.

I have experienced this as well but only when Trace is turned on. It is almost impossible to select something when this is happening. This seems to go on for a day or two and then everything seems fine.

I have not been able to locate any setting or cause for this.

I don't know if this is the same problem, but slow 2d regeneration can happen when using a trace view that has different active layers than the view you are working on. I find if you select trace from the primary views in navigator(don't select the trace view from your saved views) it will default to the current layers and work fine.

Thank you both for your replies -really appreciated. The Trace was the problem - as soon as I switched it off the problem went. Good on you Gerald for finding this solution.
There must be a bug somewhere there. I should tell GS.

Add a key board shortcut to toggle trace on/off.
Toggle off to select an object, point, edge, etc. and then toggle on to align with the trace reference.
That said....... I'm hoping it goes away with AC16
