<R>As mentioned in other treads, it would be really nice if users could show off there different form achievements using the new shell tool in version 15.
This way other users can realise the real potential of this powerful new tool.

Here are a few examples to start this tread.
<LINK_TEXT text="http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/vie ... &&start=10">http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=37451&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=10</LINK_TEXT>

Maybe it would be better if the Moderator could merge these two treads ?

Thanks.</R>

ok big question.
I want to create a mesh connecting these bubbles.
i have seen this done in a archicad 15 demo complex geometry video, so apparently it is possible.

Any tips on how to start the connection ??
Thanks.
I don't have ArchiCAD 15 yet, but your reference picture doesn't look like it has a tapered extrusion. Perhaps try a curced extrusion of one constant profile?

In ArchiCAD 14 I would probably 'fake' the shape with slanted circular collumns stacked on top of eachother. With circular slaps for each intersection point to have snap points available as 3d 'guideline'. Depending on the status of the project (preliminary design / sketch), I would probably be satisfied with that result.

Looks interesting!

ok so
-- i created a circle polyline,
-- then placed normal round columns evenly around the perimeter of the circle.
-- then in 3d, i chose each column one by one and selected the top node,
-- i chose the shift command and dragged the node, so it moved over the next column top. did the same for the others.

-- then copied the columns and flipped the direction, so i got the x crossing.

-- Now I can just copy this up onto the next levels... i hope.
You should be able to close up the gaps with triangular planes at the very least. Probably the easiest way would be to use the roof tool, though as said, don't have ArchiCAD 15 yet, so I'm not aware of what the shell tool is like. Just draw your roofs between the collumns in 3d view.

If thickness isn't an issue, you could also use mesh tool.

If your shape is simple (like my circular example), you can copy a lot of things around and it should be relatively fast. If you want a more free flowing shape like the one you posted, it'll likely be a lot of work with most triangle being unique shapes.

its easy to pick the node points from top and bottom of each column, thats ok but locking facade nodes into the intersection of columns, thats tricks i think ?...
here is what i mean.
it seems like you have to have a crossing of columns to achieve this form.
then my question is, when creating a filling. ie. facade or mesh.....
then i have to have my 4 corner points NODES to pick and i dont think this will work will trying my best to select column intersections ?
