You will not be able to share project between student and comercial version, so getting him an AC9 student version will not help you. Anyhow, AC10 student is free for download, so there is no need to buy AC9.

<R>Hello All - We are a small firm with one 8.1 key and one 9 key. We now have another part time student worker that I am having to spend the time to "save down" my 9 projects to 8.1 so that we can both work on it at more or less the same time. Would there be any benefit for him to get himself a copy of the AC 9 student version? There are some currently available at a greatly reduced price. Would he be able to use the AC 10 student download?
Any of your thoughts on our situation would be very appreciated. That is, other than upgrading the whole office to AC 10 before July 1st. . .
Thank you,
Reuben
The AC 9 keyplug is also able to run the AC 8.1 version. Maybe you save time if you work both on the older version ....
Why don't you contact a reseller and request a "pay-per-use" license so you can temporary continue work with one additional license.

(I'm not sure of this license scheme still exists...)
