Well, I use tiffs on my cover sheets each and every time I print, and have for years. I have never had that issue. Windows thing? I drag and drop the tiff image on the layout, and size. They always have printed.. well actually plotted.

Big help.. huh

<T>I am tired of scanning design sketches and importing into models and layouts only to have them NOT PRINT...

Sorry for the outburst, but something has to give... I can't keep wasting my time with this.

I can see the scan fine on plan... just prints NOTHING where a scan should be on paper.

Tried PDF, tiff (it's b/w).... Reduced file sizes.. still no print.

Help!</T>

I had that problem. I converted the TIF to a PDF and then removed the tif and replaced it w/ the PDF on the layout. It worked.

5000x10000 pixels?

It must have something to do with that old 4048 pixel limitation.

From what I remember, that 4048 pixel limitation only applied to the size of <S></S>renderings <E></E>ArchiCAD (9) could <S></S>output<E></E>. It was later lifted to 32767 pixels by 32767 pixels.

Cheers,
Duane
Wild guess.
Could it be that you have layers that are not transferring over?
Since tiffs can have layers like psd's, maybe flattening files first?

Sounds like a similar issue we had with tiff's except ours were dropping out when printing PDF's! Have you tried turning OFF the transparency?

Have you tried it with image formats other than TIFF?

It's been a while, but I did once have problems with tiffs not printing until I preformed a "bring to front", but I think that only happened when the tiffs were on a master. I have not had that happen in a while.. maybe since AC10, but it might be worth a try. The tiffs were visible, but did not print until I did that. My tiffs are small.

I know it makes no sense, but what can I say.

Update:

I scanned a design (hand draw plan) with lots of pixels (12000x19000)

Placed the tif into a layout... showed a big black box

Saved as PDF, Looked ok, but would not print

Then split the file into 3 strips and rotated so that the width was 4000 pixel. Placed the 3 strips into layout, looked and printed fine.

To me, that suggests (tho probably not conclusively) that this 4048 pixel limitation may still be present.

I used to get a glitch that images imported and then rotated in AC wouldn't print, but rotating them in something else (photoshop) then importing worked fine.... I didn't think that was still an issue.

I know this problem, i also tried more things and the problem was from printer (Hp cp1700 and Hp 2800) and sometimes if the corners of the tiff was on layout or not. and another issue was the resolution of the tiff.
i worked with b/w tiff's 150-300 dpi.

the error was random, and i can figure out exactly the problem.
