David, one thing that worked for me is to remove all instants of Java from your system and install the Java version that comes with the ArchiCAD v9 CD, this should install ArchiCAD v9 and later you can run upgrads to make your java version the latest.

<T>Am re-visiting some older v7 projects and am re-installing v9 to be able to convert to v11. However when trying to install I get a java runtime error. I have gone through and removed all instances of java and downloaded and installed the newest version but am stll getting same error. Is there a conflict with the latest java and v9? Any other ideas?</T>

You could also try opening the files with AC10 if you have the disks- it might be easier to move to 11 after that.

Optionally, get the File Converter from here.

What are ArchiCAD file converter packages?

From this page you can download old ArchiCAD packages which are pre-installed and updated to the latest available build. You can use these packages to convert your old ArchiCAD files to a format which is supported by current ArchiCAD versions.

Srinivas your solution is what worked. Removed all instances of java then installed the version on the v9 ArchiCAD disk.
