I do not believe that anyone knows... nor is there any easy way to determine either number with any accuracy.

Only GS could answer - since keyplug is USB standard every licence is counted on central server. Previous versions - before 7.0, use differrent types of dongle, probably some users are not listed in database.

Another quesion is how many educational licences was downloaded in various countries. If this program works worldwide as it works in Poland (thousands) number is near milion... 🙂

How many ArchiCAD licenses have been issued?

I think they would know exactly how many licenses have been issued, and how many for each version too.

Even the number of licenses 'issued' is a tough one. A reseller will know his/her sales region, presumably. GS will know how many WIBU keys were distributed, but may not know how many are in reseller inventory, were damaged, stolen, lost, put on the shelf, etc.

The number of active paid licenses - ignoring NFR, PPU, ED, etc - would be interesting.

GS will have a record of any WIBU keys upgraded to a new version via the online key update mechanism, but would otherwise not know which old keys were still in use, or were in a box or the trash....

GS says over 100,000 users worldwide, on various sites. Abvent, the french AC reseller, claimed over 130,000.
I would not trust both too much, because these numbers don't change since years. I would say it is simple publicity.

Don't hope any clear answer about such a sensitive question.

Some years ago, on GS official site, you could look at the financial report. Very interesting.
Alas, since Nemetscheck acquisition, such info is no more avaible.

At this time (2005, 2006?), from memory, GS worldwide incomes was aprox, in ratio:
Europe : 5
America: > 1
Asia: < 1
Rest of the world : 0.8 or less

Take it with caution, my memory can fail.
GS is present in > 80 countries.

Looking at the size of GS company (245 employees, from a financial site, 2009), these results are just amazing. Congrats.
One day, promise, I will become a GS share holder. The same for Apple. For the moment, money is missing, but I keep hope.

For an average worldwide yearly seat fee of say USD 600, that would be 60 M in revenues for 245 employees = 240,000 annual revenue per employee, which sounds just about OK for Hungary I think.

We are still using AC11, do we count? 4 users but 8 licenses, and AC12 still in the box too. How many do we qualify as?
