    <description>I'm not entirely sure I understand the question, or in fact the problem?!&lt;BR /&gt;
&lt;BR /&gt;
Why will the estimator count part of the beam twice? Is the estimator doing a manual take off, or are they using ArchiCADs built in scheduling and Listing functions. If the latter, as long as the beam is subtracted (SEOed) out of the floor slab, then the volume reported should be correct for both the beam and slab.&lt;BR /&gt;
&lt;BR /&gt;
I don't understand what 'drawing convention' has to do with it, other than make sure it is modelled accurately, and the quantities will be be accurate.&lt;BR /&gt;

      <description>&lt;DIV class="actalk-migrated-content"&gt;&lt;T&gt;BIM is a tool that suppose to be a single source of data. It means, that same model will be used by structural engineer as well as estimator.&lt;BR /&gt;
In this perspective, structural would like to see all beams connected and have their real heights ( say, 800 mm deep). For estimator, that would be inconvenient, since 220 mm of the beam depth will be counted twice (as part of beam and as part of 220 mm slab) . How BIM drawing convention accommodate for this issue? ( in 2D world, there are different sets of drawings, with their respective sets of conventions).&lt;/T&gt;&lt;/DIV&gt;</description>

If it is modeled correctly, the beam(s) would be SEO'd from the slab(s) so the volume of the slab reads correctly.</description>
