that's a great idea!

i've just taken all of our grids out of the project and created a solo file which i've saved as a 'dwg'.

this means i can x-ref it autocad style <S></S>and<E></E> have it always available to send to consultants. also - nobody can ammend it without consciously opening the file to edit it.

having heard your 3D suggestion i have have opened the 'dwg' as an object and placed that into a 3D only layer. good tip - thanks.
Using non-editable elements

<R>
~/archiben wrote:
no. we're using lines and text to create the grid - it's too complicated for the built in grid tool. the lines have big circles as arrows on the end and all is grouped and locked
~/archiben

I prefer to use an object as my grid line since it will show through to other storiesI can also make it a line in 3D to check its position in sections and elevations.
Using the ID as the code means i don t need to zoom in to change a reference.
If the grid is regular then can set hotspots at the grid interval so only get a hotspot at grid intersections.</R>
