topic glass extension in Modeling

<R>hope it's ok to post this here. if not please delete. i have asked my architect but would like a wider ranging opinion if possible and where better to ask ?

i'm thinking of having a glass extension built to create a large family kitchen/dining/living area.

i've seen lots of similar spaces but am worried that it will be too hot in summer and too cold in winter. has glass/ally tech really come as far as suppliers make out or am i asking for trouble building one of these?

i'm thinking something like this:

<S></S><S></S><LINK_TEXT text="http://www.contemporist.com/2013/05/14/ ... 140513_01/">http://www.contemporist.com/2013/05/14/the-glass-house-by-ar-design-studio/gh_140513_01/</LINK_TEXT><E></E><E></E>

i've heard that solar reflective glass helps, but i've been in a house that has it and though it does help, i'm not sure it will keep the room cool under prolonged sunshine. and in winter, won't this kind of glass have the opposite effect - i.e. it will stop the sun from heating the room so will be too cold?

basically, is a glass extension like the one in the link usable year round? it will have UFH but no air con.</R>
