I keep my main floor level at 100 ft.
In the 3d window I can "alt click"- take on properties - a beam at 100'0" magic wand an adjacent slab (also at 100 ft.)
Newly placed beams are placed at 0'0" - not where they should be (100'0")
Both the original and the newly copied beams are are on the same story
but are misplaced in elevation.

Performing the same thing in the 2d window - all new beams are placed
at the proper height. (all are placed at 100 ft.0")

- maybe this has some connection with the
above noted problems ?

Until this logical flaw is fixed (we are promised a fix in an upcoming hotfix - whenever that occurs), you will have to use the mouse menu to reassign the home story.

This is such a tedious exercise that I have decided to stay with 16 until the hotfix is released.

can you explain the "mouse menu to reassign the home story"

if i right click and hit the "relink home story" it still alters the height of the object.

With this issue, AC17 is useless to me.

just playing with it a bit more and have noticed that if i alter the height of things (objects, walls, stairs, etc) in the items setting with a positive or negative value, it stays on the correct story(which you would hardly ever do, most height adjusting is in 3D).

if i change the height in 3d.. or use the right click, elevate option in plan, it will change the story..

Meanwhile you can also use the "Relink to Home Story" command as a work around.

this does not work for me

for example.

Story A's height is +1000 from project zero. i have an item placed on story A. i go in to 3d and move it down -200, it will drop down to the story bellow (+800 above project zero).. i then "Relink to Home Story", it will then lift the item automatically back up to the +1000 location to replace it on "Story A".

It should not do that. Fo example:

1. 2nd Story at 100' AFF
2. Move Slab -20'

Use Relink Home Story to assign it again to the second floor.

BTW this is all done in the 3D Window

Moving it 5' down still keeps the slab assigned to the 2nd story, as long as you don't cross another story level.

---
Don't get me wrong I don't like having to use RHS command.

Well, it appears that my problem with "magic wand" is not part of this
problem but a problem nevertheless -(see previous)
I have always been able to magic wand joists to slabs and have them at the correct elevation - this appears to be a different bug with Archicad 17 as the story does not change.

ejrolon-
yup tied that and its works.. thank you
so for now (until its fixed) i have to move items in 3d then relink their story each item at a time, also in 3d (which is an utter joke).. if i try to do it in plan it will relocate the items back up to the original height.
ill probably finish this project in 17 then go back to 16 till its sorted
