Roof angle changing hatch output

A quick query: I have two roofs, one set at 5 degrees, the other at 15. Both of their fill settings are exactly the same and the drawing display options are correct. However, the 5 degree roof hatch appears to scale independently and plots out as a 25% fill. See attachment. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You're sure that cover fill settings (including cover fill orientation) and top surface materials are the same for both roofs?

Maybe try syringing properties from lower roof to upper roof (Alt-click lower, ctrl-alt click upper) , then only adjust angle and height.

s2art - I just tried syringing the properties as you suggested and then adjusted the height and angle but the problem still occurs. It must just be that particular fill type that renders incorrectly on a lower roof pitch. It happened to one of my workmates too on a 5 degree pitch.

Update: I modified a different fill to hatch the roof and it works fine when I plot.

Sorry, I'm having a blonde day*. Now I think about it cover fill would have no effect, as that's only for plan display. It's the material / vectorial hatching in section / elevation that determines this. Changing the fill asigned to the roof material was definitely the way to go.

I had a similar problem which displayed differently depending on how far i was zoomed in here. Changing the assigned fill fixed it.

*No offence meant to blondes, either natural or otherwise.

In my opinion it is a bug.
I have just recently reported this th GS AUS but have not heard back yet.
It may pay if you and any others report this problem too.
As you zoom in you will find the hatch pattern will revert to exactly what you are after.
As you zoom out the roof gets to a stage where it no longer uses the vectorial fill but switches to use the bitmap fill as set for that particular fill.
To prove this set the bit map pattern for a vertical vectorial fill to be horizontal (i.e. totally different to the vectorial pattern) and use this fill on the roof.

Try it with 3 or 4 different roof pitches.
As you zoom out they will all start to change to the bitmap fill starting with the lowest pitch.
Just a regular polygon with the same fill will be unaffected.

This is only for fills set to "Scale with plan".
Fills that have been set to "Scale independent" seem to be fine - but of coarse they no longer suit all scales.

It is as described by Stuart in his link above - but the other problem with the printing of the 25%, 50% fills is a different one.

Have you checked to see if this affects output? Fills generally switch to their bitmap version when the screen zoom is to far away to display the vector fill properly (ie. it would go solid from lack of enough pixels). This is generally a screen display effect only and should not print.

Yes I have seen it affect the printed output as well.
Looks wrong in the layouts and prints wrong in the PDF.
Mainly for the roofs with a low pitch - say 5°.
The other roofs in the same layout will look and print fine.

Having said that I have just quickly tested it again myself and it still appears wrong in the layout (unless you zoom in) but it printed fine.

I am running build 1010 so this may be the solution.
The other machine where I originally saw this is running build 987.
When I get a chance I will do some more testing.

Just did a very quick test and it seems to be fine in both version 12 & 14.
Roofs at 2°, 5° and 25° all looked the same in Archicad, layouts and PDF.
And I don't remember doing anything to my hatch patterns since I first saw the problem.

It seems to sort itself out in V13 if you change the 'Edit Vectorial Patter' to 'Scale with Independent'. Look towards the bottom of the screenshot.

That is it George.
I see my fills are scale independent now but when I look back at an old template they used to be "scale with plan".
Tracking back through my notes I see i did indeed make this change.

"Custom orb cladding - vertical" fill type change to not be scaled to avoid elevation / zoom bug.
NOTE - if used as a polygon fill then it will no longer scale.

So that is indeed the solution.
