For some reason, in the Plot setup, all that is listed is TCP/IP, when I try to set up my plotter, then plot, I first get the massage "waiting for connection to 192.168.1.107 network plotter"; then the message: "Cannot connect 192.168.1.107:1 TCP/IP network". I have enclosed a picture here and wonder if there is some special number that needs to be plugged into the Port: box.

Was on the phone to HP Tech support; they were able to get the plotter to "print" from word; I want it to "PLOT" from Archicad.

Right now, have to print from PDF's or the program crashes (I get a bug report).

Also have this problem at work on a HP 1100 Plotter, same problem, same bug report, and same "work-a-round" HP told me to call my software company. The Tech guy said if I can "print" from word, it proves the plotter is working and the problem is in ArchiCAD 10.

I have a MACPRO HD
2 x 2.66 GHz Dual Core Intel Xenon
4 GB 667 MHz

I Have a HP 455ca and the port number that I use is 9100. Of course you have to type in the correct IP address of the plotter. Give that a try. I think I remember seeing that information in the Version 9 manual. I don't see it in the 10 manual.

Archimamamia:

I have an HP 650C and the settings I use are:
IP Address: 192.0.0.192
Port: 9100
Check your plotter manual, there should be a way to get the plotter to print out its address (I tried to set the address from the computer, this was not possible on the Mac). I use PlotFlow for X (this comes with ArchiCAD) for sending the plt files to the plotter, and have the plotter directly connected to the computer (no router).
I had a similar problem right away when I upgraded to my G5 2 yrs ago in my office's small network.....

Along with the configuration window in ArchiCAD, be sure to set your "Location" in the Systems Preferences" under "Network" with the same address, port and so forth.

Save the location as "HP500 Plotter" or similar name.

Now.....before you plot from ArchiCAD or Plotmaker; choose and set the 'Location' under the apple menu to your saved plotter name. Your file should be directly routed to your HP500.

When you are finished, remember to reset the 'Location' back to your original setting (or you may start to wonder why no one is emailing you).

Apparently some older HP plotters don't see signals that are 'automatically' routed. The location feature was Apple's solution to aid in router and peripheral compatibily.

BTW, Printing with my older HP plotter has been painfully slow for me, esp when I'm coordinating drawings for completing a project. I've stayed with Plotting for the HP.

When I have a big order, I either use Plotflow X or I email to my local offsite copy house.
