When importing drawings from Archicad 8 into plotmaker, each time it finishes the import an error window crops up, but the drawings seem to come across fine.

This is the usual (?) Background ArchiCAD library loading problem, that IMHE does not have any impact on the imported views.
Black? Not blue with a lot of ugly text?

This does sound like a memory handling and/or video card problem. Did you do the video card test available here:

http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/compatibility.php?

? Updating the drivers might help.

Also, NOT running anything else (messengers, multimedia, Outlook etc) at the same time might be helpful. Saving often, too.

HTH,

i have tried starting from scratch each time and creating a new plotmaker drawing but it does it again and again.

I am running a 2.8 Mhz hperthreaded P4, 1 gig ram and lots of hardisk space but cannot understand why it crashes the whole machine.

Any ideas?
