<T>I am attempting to publish DWF from AC and tried a zillion different ways but it does not work.
The first image shows the plan how it shoudl look at the second image shows what the published DWF file looks like.
Everything is squashed into one long line. Could somebody please help.
Thanks.</T>

I tried recreating your problem but could not; published a DWF from ArchiCAD Orchard Project example; opened it with Autodesk's DWF viewer... everything came through fine. Even tried all 3 DWF options.

1. Chose File/Publisher/Publish...
2. Create a view set
3. Set the View Set Publishing Properties to "Save" and tell the program where.
4. Make sure the files are set to save as DWFs
5. Push the Publish Button
Another thing:

This project originated in AC8.1

I have opened 5 previous independent versions of this drawing (superseded) and they are all the same. When publishing to dwf it just drops everything into one central line on the page.

Any other drawing i open i do not get this problem.
It must be a problem with the *.pln file or the preferences relating to it.
Would it be possible to email the file to somebody for troubleshooting?

You might want to send it to your tech support?

In the meantime - merge it into your template, or a New and reset file.

Patric,

I looked at your file. Here's what I think the problem is and I'm posting it here rather than in private email because maybe someone will remember under what topic something similar to this came up (probably last summer) or have had a similar experience.

I think the main factor in the problem is related to the distance of the drawing from the Absolute Origin being 555 million mm. Prior to 9.0 this could cause problems in a variety of ways.

Second, fonts were set to a fixed size (you are using mm vs points) and I think that this was also causing a problem because after I moved everything closer to the origin the only problem with the drawing seemed to be that the DWF looked just like it would if you printed a drawing at a scale less than the plan scale (text is all lumped up in the center of the drawing).

Here's what I would try... just to satisfy my curiosity; open the original 8.0 project in 8.0 and go to the ground floor. Turn all layers on, set the coordinates (X,Y) to absolute and draw a heavy marque around the entire drawing.

Drag everything to Absolute 0,0 and save with a new name. Open the resulting file in 9.0 and see what happens when you create a DWF.

You mentioned the text being a problem. After installing AC9 started using text in mm by default. So are you saying that i should be using the text tool always with points?

At least the problem is creative. When I started out the DWF would arrange everything in a line in the centre of the page. Now that I have moved everthing to the 0,0 origin everything is arranged in the lower left corner in a circle. (see pic)
By the way, how do i select Text in the entire drawing not just on one floor?
I like setting the text in points because 12 point text is 12 points whether the scale is 1/4" = 1'0" or 1 1/2" = 1'0". I like to set line weights by points as well for the same reason (I would really like to hear what others have to say about this).
Activate the text tool; Control+A (CMD+A on Mac)... but you have to do it for each floor.
It only starts working once the slab is larger than ~218000 x 218000 mm.
Actually, ingnore my statement about the points vs mm related to the Fixed Size text. Something is happening in the translation from ArchiCAD to DWF that would indicate a problem associated with these settings but other things about it don't make sense.

The problem may go back to the original 8.0 file and if so, given that you've done considerable work on it since converting to 9.0 the slab solution (which I could not replicate) may be your only choice.
Units don't matter. What does matter is whether the text is scale sensitive or not. If you use fixed text, you are working like in AutoCAD - specifying the text size in project units, instead of the printed size which was ArchiCAD's default until 9. IMHO it should have stayed so.

I work in metric, and points for text size have no meaning for me in a technical document.
