Seiss,
Is it possible that you are mixing up you FTP server info with your mail sever info?

See the attached image for an explanation.
BEN -

Thanks for your response. No I was not confusing the ftp set-up in Publisher with the e-mail set-up in Preferences.

However, I was confused in thinking that Publisher could e-mail a published document. That is not the case. Publisher can only send an information e-mail corresponding to a specific ftp upload.

In any case the problem still presists, that is Publisher will not send the e-mail as it claims not to be able to find the mail server. My server address begins with smpt and reads "smpt.pacbell.yahoo.com" so I don't understand why publisher can't find the server as the resident e-mail program finds it just fine.

Also, when I provide the ftp address publisher publishes, and then claims it could not find the host, but the log shows the transaction was completed. I don't understand all this confusion.

Tomorrow I will check to see if the test document went to the ftp site. I know the e-mail failed because I sent it to myself.

Are you sure that "smpt.pacbell.yahoo.com" is not "smtp.pacbell.yahoo.com" ?

The publisher creates the files first, before launching the FTP uploader. Therefore the publishing will report success, even if you have a problem with uploader.

Can you paste here a screenshot of your settings?
