Thanks for the info. I think I'll be looking at the HPGl viewers. I Have tried the PDFs and I am not happy with the quality. It maybe my set up, but the line weights seem to be thicker when angled......a line that is horizontal or vertical is thinner than the same line on any angle. If you have a fix for this issue I would appreciate that as well. I figured it was a raster vs. vector issue.

Is there a good way to proof/preview .PLT files prior to sending them to the printer? We use an out-source printing service.

Archicad 8.1v2
OSX

You can reopen the PLT file in PlotMaker though it can take a while. Also verify if your service accepts pdf files most new plotters can accept both.

for a free solution:

http://www.tgsoft.ch/English/Bitview.htm

or

http://www.softwarecompanions.com/vcsscreenshot.html

http://www.swplot.com/splot.htm#win40

do a search for 'hpgl viewer' on google or somewhere like that for more options. Some are very expensive.

If you use Macs the Graphic Converter utility lets you open the plt files too. This is true also for CorelDraw, Illustrator and Freehand.

You can use OCE Reprodesk Remote. This is what I use to preview and email my .plt files to be printed. Its a "what you see is what you get" software. Many websites offer it for free, just search reprodesk.
