in archicad 12 i can't find
Document > Document Extras > Automatic Dimensioning > Exterior Dimensioning
to use Exterior Dimensioning
it's not in menu bar

The first thing to check is which Work Environment you have enabled. Go to ArchiCAD > Work Environment, select the Work Environment Profiles at the top of the left panel, then select "Standard Profile 12" and click "Apply Schemes of Profile" and click OK. This will set your Work Environment to the standard one. If this doesn't help, then you should post more information about what is not appearing on screen.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
