Someone may come along and correct me, or have a better idea, (as is often the case), but until then, could it possibly have something to do with the core/finishes settings in composites or your C.P. walls (partial structural display settings) that is new in 12?

<T>I have a project that was started in 11 and was migrated to 12 some time ago. Recently, some of my walls are showing incorrect vectorial hatch fills in section/elevations. For example:

I have a wall with a siding material set to show on the outside (reference line side) and a plain white material (no hatch) on the other side. When viewed in 3d model, the textures show on the correct sides, BUT in s/e the siding hatch shows up on BOTH sides of the wall. This seems to happen randomly to some walls and not to others. All the walls were created in AC11 and worked fine there. I tried to create new walls in 12 to replace the bad ones, and I get the same problem.

This is happening to 2 of our projects (both started in 11). Haven't had it in any projects started in 12 (yet).

Anyone else with this problem? AC 12 is getting me really pissed off.
any help much appreciated. thanks

edit to add that this happened before the hotfix and continues to happen with it.</T>

thanks Bier, you're right.

It looks like if you turn finishes off, then ALL sides of a wall take on the material that is set for the sides of a wall. This makes partial structure display much less useful. If you want to use vectorial hatching then you can't turn finishes off in section/elevation. I guess I'll only be using it in floor plan.
stupid graphisoft.
This is true if you are using a Composite Structure because you can not assign Materials to each skin of the Composite.
However, you can do this with a Profiled Wall.

Maybe you should create a wish for the ability to assign materials to each skin of a Composite Structure. With the Partial Structure Display feature, this wish now makes sense.
