<T>Our BIM server is windows 7, as is one of our workstations (both 64 bit. Server has 8G RAM)

We have a layout with several sketched PDF (they are small file size), and need to be able to print them to our canon printer, and to save them as PDFs.

Neither windows 7 machine can do this. It begins spooling the document, and continues to spool at a rate of .14 MB per 5 seconds. VERY slow.

On my old 32 byte Windows XP machine, the same layout prints at an acceptable pace.

We have tried various canon drivers, but have no success.

Has anyone had similar printing problems with Windows 7? Any resolutions?

Thanks.</T>

Nathan

Are there any figures (image files, .jpg etc) on the layouts in question?
We have the same issue here. It takes around 10mins to print a single A3 sheet!
If we remove the .jpg from the plan it rolls through at normal speed.

Hi Nathan,
a couple of things I have noticed with Archicad, PDFS and printing...

Firstly, I have found that printing a layout or plan to PDF using anything other than the publisher can be horrificly slow, I always publish to PDF and its quick, even withs photos with are a bit slower than plans.

Since upgrading to Windows 7 I have had a few issues with drivers for various bits of hardware, ESPECIALLY printers. From what I have read on the internet it seems that the printer companies can be very bad/lazy at making sure older printers will work on the newer operating systems. there is a general feeling that they want us to keep buying new printers.

Are you publishing to PDF are printing to PDF?
Have you tried another PDF creating software in place of Adobe?
