<T>Hi,

I'm working on details in Archicad 21 and I was hoping there is a better way to reference other views/drawings placed on layouts from inside the view.
In other words, when I document a detail, I'd like to add a label or an autotext and say "For wall finish, refer too #Drawings ID&Name" so that, when I change the location or rename the Finish plan drawing, it updates in my details or worksheets (used General Notes ) as well.

Is there a label or a work around that I can use for this?

Thank you,
Ana</T>

anadoramateiL53 :

Yes, you can use Autotext to reference Layouts and Views. In the Help Files see: Autotext Reference Drawing.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
You're right. Autocorrect is an option and I've been using it.
The thing is that I need to refer on one layout (eg Envelope Details) another layout (eg Reflecter Ceiling Plan). Autocorrect gives the "current" layout name and no. What I was hoping for was a workaroung or a solution to refer to other drawings that are not the current sheet, that are somewhere else in the drawings set

PS: Good point! Thank you, I updated my profile

Cheers,
What I have done in the past is to write the text and place a linked detail marker next that is linked to the placed drawing.

Oh, This is interesting
I would have preferred to have an auto text inserted into the regular text but this could work to some extent - create a detail marker without the symbol (circle, lines etc) and keep only the text, then insert “space” several times so that I make room for my new “detail autotext “ and continue with whatever text I need to insert in that paragraph
It seems a bit to much though...

I wonder if you can reference an excel file or an external text file (with Revit, I know you can do that) and have the drawings list out there and just reference the line where to get the info from. And then, just check from time to time that my drawing numbers or my drawing names are consistent with what I have in the model. At least I would have all the unlinked info in one spot.

Any ideas?

Thank you,
Ana:

This should work using Autotext. One thing I discovered when looking into this: for the Layout ID, use the "Layout ID ref." under "Reference for [Set as Autotext Reference]", rather than the "Layout ID" under "Layout". The Drawing ID seems fine. If this is not the case, please post a screen shot explaining your problem, it is possible I don't fully understand what you want to accomplish.

Thanks for adding the signature.
Ana:

Thanks for posting the image, this is what I thought you were trying to achieve. I can place a Text/Autotext Label and add the Autotext as per the help guide and both the <S></S>Layout ID ref<E></E>. and <S></S>Drawing Name ref.<E></E> will change as the referred drawing is moved between Layouts or has its name changed. Sometimes I have to Rebuild to see the changes. You may need to post step by step instructions or a short movie of how you created your label so someone can see where the issue is.
