Place External Drawing Locking Up

In Archicad 18, I am using the "Place External Drawing" to try to place another Archicad 18 drawing into the current one I'm working with. It starts the "update" process, then freezes (locks up). This has happened in several Archicad drawings. I never had this problem with Archicad 9, 11 or 14.

Don't use external drawings much but was having same problem. It worked!

I'm glad I found this topic....I was just about to ask the same question.
